Growing up, I had a list of nicknames related to my height….or, lack thereof.  Short stuff, half pint, speedbump, shorty….the list goes on.

Then I married Ben, who was on the normal-to-possibly-shorter male side, and now our poor children have been blessed with the genetics of 2 height-deficient parents.  {Anyone else dipping in the short end of the height pool??  Let’s do a virtual high-five!}  During their well-checks, if one of my kids is even on the charts in the height department, Ben and I throw them {and ourselves, let’s be honest} a little party.

To help with the problem of too-long pants, we’re currently rolling down the tops of jeans in order to help our kids from tripping over the two inches of material that scrapes the ground.

Luckily, today’s deal is going to solve that problem for our awesome little shorties.

My Hikes Pant Cuff Fasteners

When we were first married, Ben had a habit of throwing his wet towels over our dirty clothes hamper.  I used to think it was careless and sweet, and picked them up with newlywed love in my eyes, so excited to be able to do anything for him.  After a couple of months of daily towel-pick-up duty, the magic and excitement was wearing off.  I asked him to pick them up, but he continually forgot, so I did what I felt was necessary:  I moved the hamper into the closet.  However, the towels then moved to a bench in our bedroom, and then eventually settled into their permanent location….on our footboard, with one side of wet towel draping onto our bed.

We are now 9 years into marriage, and I’m still picking up Ben’s wet towels.

But you know what?  Even though the towels drive me bonkers, our marriage is a happy one.  It’s a work in progress because it isn’t always perfect, but something I have absolutely loved about being married to Ben is that we try really hard to stay connected every day.  We love each other a whole lot, and make sure to tell each other why.  I’m grateful I married someone who is so easy to communicate with…..even if he has his bad habits, and I have mine.

Poor sweet baby June has had a diaper rash for the past week that we haven’t been able to get to completely go away.  I know all of the tricks for diaper rashes, but nothing seems to work, and she’s becoming more uncomfortable with every diaper change.

I have this awesome sister-in-law who is seriously stylish.  Every time I go shopping with her, she teaches me something new about fashion.  Most of the time we’re shopping, I feel like I’m on the show “What Not to Wear” and camera crews are going to jump out at me at any moment, whisking me away with this sister-in-law of mine to give me a fashion makeover, forcing me out of my usual flip-flops and ponytails.  It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m banking on it happening someday.  There are two accessories she has talked to me about for several years:  headbandsand belts.  She explained that both are an easy way to add a “pop” of color, spicing up even my most dreary outfits.
